Netball Scotland Awards 2017

Netball Scotland's Annual Awards gives us, the Governing Body and our ever growing netball community,  the opportunity to recognise and honour those clubs, teams and individuals that dedicate their time, skills, passion and expertise to the delivery and development of netball of all levels across Scotland.

 

 

Nominations for our Awards recognising outstanding achievements in Scottish netball during the 2016/17 season are NOW OPEN.  The awards will be presented as part of our 7th Annual Netball Scotland Awards Night which is being held at the gorgeous Glasgow Central Hotel on Saturday 24th June 2017.

Netball Scotland Annual Awards Categories and Criteria

 

1.‘Moira Ord’ Volunteer of the Year:-

Criteria:  This award is for people who play the vital role of the volunteer administrator, technical official, teacher, leader, parent or helper. This will not solely be judged on the success of a school, club or team but the time and effort the individual dedicates throughout the season and how you demonstrate their impact.

 

For example: “the leader who has given up their weekends to attend all netball games and creates a positive environment”. 

 

2. Umpire of the Year:

Criteria:This award is open to all qualified umpires who have been successful in their own personal development and have contributed to the development of umpiring locally and/or nationally.

 

For example: “an umpire who has committed to umpiring within their local association leagues on a regular basis and/or volunteered at a number of different events organised by Netball Scotland such as District, Inter-district, Schools, National competitions and national training events and/or engaged in a mentoring programme”.

 

3. School of the Year:

Criteria: This award is open to all Primary and Secondary schools that have demonstrated an impact netball has had on pupils and engagement with clubs in the local community.  Nominations should be submitted and endorsed by a representative member of staff from the school.

 

For example:“a school who actively promotes netball as an extra-curricular activity and/or who has entered a team into Netball Scotland’s Scottish Schools Cup and/or delivered Netball Leaders Awards or Getting Started workshops and/or formed a link with a local club”.

 

4. Bounce Back to Netball Club of the Year

Criteria:This award celebrates BBN clubs who provide recreational opportunities for participation in a fun and inclusive environment.

 

For example: “a BBN club who has made a significant impact on their members and/or the local community”.

 

5. Unsung Hero (New Award)

Criteria: This award is to celebrate amember who has done an extraordinary act, or series of acts, worth celebrating or recognising. We are looking for some exceptional nominees.

 

6. ‘Eilish Herron’ Young Coach of the Year

Criteria: This award recognises young people with a UKCC L1 or L2 aged 25 years or younger (by 30th June 2017) who have committed time towards their own development as a coach and can demonstrate their ability to deliver a quality coaching experience to their players.

 

7. Junior Club of the Year:

Criteria:This award is open to junior clubs who are able to demonstrate growth and development and who provide a positive example of club governance.

 

For example: “a junior club who engages with schools in the local community to support the player pathway and/or develops their coaches and officials and/or has had success in a range of local or national competitions”.

 

8. Coach of the Year – Junior level:

Criteria:This award is open to all UKCC L2 & L3 coaches who deliver regular quality coaching sessions and develop players at Junior level.  This will not solely be judged on the success of a school, club or team but the time and effort the individual dedicates throughout the season and how you demonstrate their impact.

 

For example: “a coach who invests in the quality development of young people through our sport”.

 

9. Senior Club of the Year:

Criteria:This award is open to senior clubs who are able to demonstrate growth and development and who provide a positive example of club governance.

 

For example: “a senior club who engages with schools in the local community to support the player pathway and/or develops their coaches and officials and/or has had success in a range of local or national competitions”.

 

10.‘Agnes O’Brien’ Coach of the Year – Open level:

Criteria: This award is open to all UKCC L2 & L3 coaches who deliver regular quality coaching sessions and develop players at Open level.   This will not solely be judged on the success of a school, club or team but the time and effort the individual dedicates throughout the season and how you demonstrate their impact.

 

For example: “a coach who actively encourages the development of players and creates a positive coaching environment”.

Outwith the above 10 categories, we are also accepting nominations for a Netball Scotland Service Award.  A Netball Scotland Service Award may be granted to any person who has rendered outstanding voluntary service to Netball Scotland at any level of the sport over a long period of time (measured in years' service to the sport).  Nominations for the Service Award can be made by representatives of the Netball Scotland Board or any member organisation i.e. School, Club, District, Region.  For more information and to request a nomination form, please contact membership@netballscotland.com
