Umpiring

The provision of umpire education opportunities is central to the game of netball to sustain high-quality player development from grass roots to international participation.  Netball Scotland offers Netball Europe Level C and B Courses through our affiliated districts, Local Authorities, Universities and Schools, and other groups that may request a course.

 

FENA LEVEL C COURSE   
 
This course covers the basic rules of umpiring using both practical and oral methods and prepares the candidate effectively for the Level C Test.  This course is aimed at all individuals involved in netball from teachers and volunteers to players and coaches.       

DURATION:   6 hours
COST:   £50 (affiliated) £70 (non-affiliated).  This amount includes test fee.
BENEFITS: FENA Netball Rules Book, Tuition, Course Manual, Umpiring Log issued
MINIMUM AGE:  16 years.
MINIMUM NUMBER: 15 people
MAXIMUM NUMBER: 25 people


LEVEL C TESTING

  • The candidate will be assessed umpiring a 30 minute Netball match.
  • The candidate will sit a 20 questions true or false paper on the rules of Netball.
  • A log sheet of 10 hours worth of umpiring should be completed and approved by the Tester.
  • The candidate must pass all of the above to receive their Umpire Certified Card and become an accredited C Umpire.


FENA LEVEL B COURSE      

This course takes umpiring to the next level and will prepare the candidate effectively for the Level B Test.  This course is aimed at those individuals who want to further their umpiring particularly in a highly competitive environment.

DURATION:   6 hours
COST:   £60 (affiliated).  This amount includes test fee.

MINIMUM NUMBER: 12 people
PRE-REQUISITES: Candidates must hold the Level C Award
Candidates must be affiliated to Netball Scotland


LEVEL B TESTING

  • The candidate will be assessed umpiring a full hour practical Netball Match.
  • The candidate will be asked ten oral questions on the rules of Netball.
  • The candidate must pass all of the above to become an accredited B Umpire.
