UWS Sirens 2018 Squad and Coach Reveal

16th November 2017

Momentum. It’s what we’ve created in our debut Season in the Vitality Netball Superleague, and it’s what we’ll continue to strive to achieve.

Momentum. It’s about continuing to build our powerful platform for Netball – and women’s sport –  in Scotland. It’s about being brave, pioneering and relentless in our pursuit of excellence and equality.

Momentum. It’s about forming the best team in the Superleague and challenging for the League title. It’s about women empowering women, succeeding as a team and #ChangingTheGame both on and off the court.

The UWS Sirens are back, and we have an amazing, new look team of inspiring global athletes for the 2018 Vitality Netball Superleague season.  With more depth, more experience, and even more ambition to make it into the coveted Final Play-Offs, the UWS Sirens mean business in season 2 and are ready for the challenge. Bringing together the best netballing talent in Scotland and combining it with the skills and experiences of three Jamaican internationalists [ranked 4th in the world] and two England athletes [3rd in the world] from across some of the world’s top Clubs, the UWS Sirens are back bigger, better and stronger than ever before. And with the introduction of new Head Coach, Tanya Dearns, at the helm, it seems there’s no stopping this team.

With this new team also comes new experiences for our Franchise Director and Team Manager, Karen McElveen, as she moves on to pastures new and hands over the baton managing the Franchise to the Award-winning Gillian Crozier who many of our netball family in Scotland will already know.  Karen, ‘Kaz’, has been instrumental in getting the Franchise off the ground and on the court and we thank her for all of her amazing work, wishing her well in her new post.  And Gill – welcome to the UWS Sirens family!

Now heading into our 2nd season we have more depth and experience in our squad, and are looking for more consistent and effective execution on court. We proved last year that we are capable of being one of the top teams in the League and I feel really confident in this new look team that our Coaches have brought together.

Off court, we will continue to work with our incredible partners, UWS, to grow and develop our game changing brand and impact programmes. I can’t wait to get this next season underway!

Even more exciting for you all, is the news that we have now released our UWS Sirens Season tickets.  They are available via the UWS Sirens website, and are selling FAST so if you are interested, get in there quick!
