Netball Scotland and UWS Sirens Make #BAGC18 Public Vote

1st May 2018

We recently revealed to you that Netball Scotland had been shortlisted in the upcoming 2018 #BeAGameChanger Awards, read the announcement here, and we are excited to now announce that we are finalists in the category of NGB of the Year.  Better yet, our UWS Sirens are finalists in the Sporting Role Model – Team category.

Why is this so important for our sport?  The Women’s Sport Trust, a pioneering charitable organisation working to raise the visibility and impact of women’s sport across the media and improve the currently challenging funding landscape.  Using the power of sport, the Women’s Sport Trust are challenging gender inequality and promoting social change.  This work lies very much at the heart of everything that Netball Scotland do, and we are ecstatic to have received recognition from this inspirational organisation.

The 2018 #BeAGameChanger Awards bring together the visionaries and game changers driving the future of women’s sport for one of the biggest nights in the sporting calendar, and we are in great company in each of our award categories.

NGB of the Year: The National Governing Body (NGB) that has demonstrated innovation and commitment to women’s sport with a clear impact on participation, engagement and profile. This NGB operates as a role model organisation showcasing the value and potential of women’s sport.

Jo Bostock, Co-founder and Joint CEO of the Women’s Sport Trust commented “Why is the Women’s Sport Trust so committed to running the #BeAGameChanger Awards? Because compelling stories about the trailblazers need to be told. They set the pace and show what’s possible. Most importantly they stimulate other brands, sport and the media to step up and take action. Building this momentum will ensure the future of women’s sport.”
