SUMMARY:Upgrade to Lead Coach Award - June 2026
DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\n\n\n\nThe Lead Coach Award is the initial step on the coaching pathway for individuals who want to lead sessions within community clubs /settings.\nThe purpose of this course is to allow learners to develop knowledge and skills they will use to independently plan\, deliver\, and review coaching sessions under *minimal supervision. Learners will develop an understanding of effective coaching practice in relation to knowing yourself\, others and coaching.  Learners will build knowledge\, confidence\, and competence as a lead coach. \nNetball Scotland has created the upgrade to Lead Coach Award course for current UKCC L1 Coaches who wish to attain the new Lead Coach qualification. This is for candidates that are 16+ who hold a UKCC Level 1 coaching qualification.  \nCANDIDATES \nThis course is suitable for members that hold the UKCC level 1 qualification.  Recommended age is 18 \nCoaches under the age of 18 should be supervised by a responsible adult.  The adults is considered to have a duty of care and is responsible for all participants.  It is advised that coaches 18+ have access to indirect supervision of a more qualified/experienced coach who does not require to be in attendance but can provide ongoing support with reviewing their coaching practice\, planning etc.  \nOUTCOMES \nOn successful completion of this course the learner will be able to: \n\nIntroduce coaching skills in relation to knowing yourself\, others and coaching.\nDemonstrate self-awareness in the context of their own role and responsibilities as a coach.\nPrepare the physical environment and equipment to meet the required safety standards.\nIdentify and respond to the needs and expectations of participants during a session.\nLead the planning\, delivery\, and review of coaching sessions\n\nSuccessful candidates will be able to lead sessions within a community club setting or similar.\n \nAll candidates must complete the following pre course modules:  \n\nSafe Guarding & Wellbeing: Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport \nDisability Inclusion – Step Model (Space\, Task\, equipment\, people)\, Activity Inclusion Model \nOnline Introduction to Umpiring\nTo complete at least a minimum online First Aid course\n\nLearners must be at least 16 years old on completion of this course. \nDURATION \nPre-Course modules via our Brightspace platform\, 3 x  virtual workshops (7.5 hours) \nASSESSMENT \nAssessments are completed on an ongoing basis throughout the course via our Brightspace platform.  \nCOURSE DATES \nOnline Sessions \n\nThursday 4th June\, time 7pm – 9.30pm\nSunday 7th June\,  time 7pm – 9.30pm \nTuesday 9th June\, time 7pm – 9.30pm\n\nDEADLINE DATE: 28th May 2026

Learners will support the process of planning for sports coaching sessions and reflect on their practice. \nThe unit is suitable for learners who have an active interest in netball and coaching. \nSuccessful candidates will be able to assist in the delivery of planned coaching sessions under direct supervision of a qualified lead coach over the age of 18 yrs. \nThis course targets 14-18 year old’s but is available to over 18’s who wish to start their coaching journey at this level. \nThe course consists of: \n\nPre course online e modules\n2 x online workshops (2 x 2 hours)\n1 practical day – 7 hours\nAssessments are completed for written tasks on an ongoing basis throughout the course and for session delivery in an in-person day\n\nCourse dates: \n\nOnline Session 1: Monday 20th October 2025\, time: 7 – 9pm\nOnline Session 2: Monday 3rd November 2025\, time: 7 – 9pm\nPractical date: Saturday 15th November 2025\,  Emirates Arena\, Glasgow.\nAssessment day : will take place in-person at least 2 months after the practical day\n\nBooking deadline: 13th October 2025

DESCRIPTION:The Community Coach Award is the initial step on the coaching pathway for individuals who want to lead sessions within community clubs /settings.\nThe purpose of this course is to allow learners to develop knowledge and skills they will use to independently plan\, deliver\, and review coaching sessions under *minimal supervision. Learners will develop an understanding of effective coaching practice in relation to knowing yourself\, others and coaching.  Learners will build knowledge\, confidence\, and competence as a lead coach. \nNetball Scotland has created the upgrade to Community Coach Award course for current UKCC L1 Coaches who wish to attain the new Community Coach qualification. SUMMARY:Introduction to Coaching Award - Edinburgh
DESCRIPTION:The Introduction to Coaching Award is the first step on the coaching pathway. \nThe purpose of this course is to allow learners to develop skills they will use to assist in the delivery of planned coaching sessions under supervision. Learners will be able to describe their motivations and aspirations as a coach\, develop their ability to identify the needs of all participants\, and prepare safe coaching environments. Learners will support the process of planning for sports coaching sessions and reflect on their practice. \nThe unit is suitable for learners who have an active interest in netball and coaching. \nSuccessful candidates will be able to assist in the delivery of planned coaching sessions under direct supervision of a qualified lead coach over the age of 18 yrs. \nThis course targets 14-18 year old’s but is available to over 18’s who wish to start their coaching journey at this level.\n \nThe course consists of:  \n\nPre course online e modules\n2 x online workshops (2 x 2 hours) \n1 practical day – 7 hours\nAssessments are completed on an ongoing basis throughout the course\n\nCourse dates: \n\nOnline Session 1: Monday 3rd March 2025\, time 6.30pm – 8.30pm\nOnline Session 2: Monday 10th March 2025\, time 6.30pm – 8.30pm\nPractical date: Saturday 22nd March 2025\, time 9am – 4pm\nVenue: Pleasance\, Edinburgh\n\nBooking deadline: 24th February 2025

(University Students\, Teachers\, or Learners that hold a Level 1 coaching certificate or equivalent qualification can apply for this course). \nOutcomes \nOn successful completion of this course the learner will be able to: \n\nIntroduce coaching skills in relation to knowing yourself\, others and coaching.\nDemonstrate self-awareness in the context of their own role and responsibilities as a coach.\nPrepare the physical environment and equipment to meet the required safety standards.\nIdentify and respond to the needs and expectations of participants during a session.\nLead the planning\, delivery\, and review of coaching sessions.\n\nAll candidates must complete the following pre course modules:  \n\nSafe Guarding & Wellbeing: Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport \nFirst Aid Course\nDisability Inclusion – Step Model (Space\, Task\, equipment\, people)\, Activity Inclusion Model  – Included in pre course modules.\nOnline Introduction to Umpiring- Included in pre course modules.\nIntroduce Plan-Do-Review – Included in pre course modules.\nLegislation: Health & Safety.
