ATHLETE APPEARANCE
Netball Scotland athletes aim to support the wider netball community and promote our sport through Athlete Appearances, in line with our ‘Every Body For Netball’ campaign to increase the profile of Netball in Scotland as far and wide as possible.
If you would like to request a Netball Scotland athlete to make an appearance at one of your upcoming events, please fill in the Athlete Appearance Form to be submitted via google docs*.
Please note, we receive many athlete requests throughout the year and while we are unable to support all requests for publicity and athlete appearances, we will do our best to facilitate as many as we can.
*Before submitting your athlete appearance request, please read through all the information below
Request Notice
Request Notice and Reply:
We ask that all requests are submitted at least four weeks prior to your event to ensure enough notice is given to the athletes to fit around their training schedule and allow time to make travel arrangements.
We, in return, aim to respond to all athlete appearance requests within two weeks of submission.
Disclaimer:
Our athletes are involved in full time employment or education commitments in addition to their training schedules, as such our athletes can have limited availability during the working week and during training, competition and recovery weekends.
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee specific athletes, and any athlete on our current programme may be able to fulfil the submitted request.

What to Expect from your Athlete Appearance
Appearance Requests:
Our athletes will not be able take part in matches or lead coaching sessions during athlete appearances. They may be able to:
- Provide assistance in coaching sessions – athletes available will be limited to those with UKCC qualifications.
- Deliver a presentation or a talk – if you have any specific topic you would like covered during this, please add any information of relevance in advance of the event to the athlete appearance form.
- Participate in a Q+A session and hand out trophies at an awards evening are further ways you can get a British Canoeing athlete involved in one of your future events.
Media Interviews (if relevant):
Should media be present at the event, it would help the athlete to prepare for any specific interview question about the event/activity.
Please include any specific facts/figures or comments you think they might need to know. It would be helpful to hear which journalists have confirmed attendance and who you might be waiting to hear back from.
Social Media Promotion:
Netball Scotland would love to share any athlete appearances and events you may hold through our media channels.
Tag @netballscotland on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with any photos or videos of your event to allow us to share the appearance across our social media platforms.
Additionally, you could send any pictures of your athlete appearance to membership@netballscotland.com along with any further information of the event you wish to share. This can then be posted across our social media platforms, and when relevant, to the Netball Scotland News Page.
Terms and Conditions:
- The Scottish Thistles/National Athletes coaching fee is £120 per hour per player.
- The Scottish Thistles National Athletes player appearance fee is £40 per hour per player.
* These fees are exclusive of travel and food expenses (25p per car per mile/public transport fare, £5 pound for lunch if this event runs for a full day)*
Things to Consider:
Scottish Thistles/National Athletes follow 1 coach to 10 children ratio, so it is advised that any sessions that consist of more then 10 people will be supported by another member of staff. We will endeavour to fulfil all player requests, however please be understanding that players are full time workers/athletes/university students and have an intense training load.
