Introduction to Coaching Award – Dundee

Overview
The Introduction to Coaching Award is the first step on the coaching pathway.
The purpose of this course is to allow learners to develop skills they will use to assist in the delivery of planned coaching sessions under supervision. Learners will be able to describe their motivations and aspirations as a coach, develop their ability to identify the needs of all participants, and prepare safe coaching environments. Learners will support the process of planning for sports coaching sessions and reflect on their practice.
The unit is suitable for learners who have an active interest in netball and coaching.
Successful candidates will be able to assist in the delivery of planned coaching sessions under direct supervision of a qualified lead coach over the age of 18 yrs.
This course targets 14-18 year old’s but is available to over 18’s who wish to start their coaching journey at this level.
The course consists of:
- Pre course online e modules
- 2 x online sessions – 4 hours
- 1 x practical sessions – 7 hours
- Assessments are completed for written tasks on an ongoing basis throughout the course and for session delivery in an in-person assessment day
Course dates:
Online Theory Session 1: Tuesday 29th September 7pm – 9pm
Online Theory Session 2: Thursday 1st October 7pm – 9pm
Practical Session: Saturday 3rd October, 9am – 4pm, St Paul’s Swim & Sports Centre
