Netball Scotland: Our Charitable Status
Netball Scotland was awarded charitable status in September 2025. We are a not-for-profit organization and exist to grow, develop and strengthen the sport of netball for everyone in Scotland. We secured the support of our members at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held in June 2025 to apply for charitable status and are raising funds to support and promote the development of the game, at all levels.
Netball Scotland is a women and girls-first governing body with a membership of over 10,000 people across the country. We support the growth of the sport from first experiences at primary school or lunchtime clubs, to structured competitions at secondary school; junior clubs offering regular training and games for young people to senior clubs of all types, whether competitive, recreational or even walking netball. There is a version of our sport for everyone, all ages, levels of confidence and abilities and our clubs are welcoming, inclusive environments offering friendship, fun, social connection and enabling active lives.
While we exist for women and girls-first, there is space in our sport for everyone. Supporting Netball Scotland as a charity helps us to widen the reach of our sport and drive impact in our communities through the power of team sport and regular physical activity. We empower women and girls to live active lives and exist to promote the benefits of netball which extend way beyond the court, building confidence, creating leadership opportunities, connecting communities, tackling loneliness or isolation and finding friendship.
