THISTLE MARK

Thistle Mark is Netball Scotland’s club accreditation scheme for minimum operating standards and governance to ensure safe, equitable and enjoyable netball across Scotland.
This development tool continually progresses, recognises and rewards clubs for achieving and maintaining best practice by strengthening infrastructures for future.
By achieving the Thistle Mark Standard (TMS) clubs will gain access to more opportunities such as funding, programmes, venues and partnerships and will enhance their reputation.

To complete this accreditation, clubs should work through the checklist of documents and upload to JustGo through the club profile and contact a local development officer or development manager who covers your area or club type.

Actify is our learning and resource hub, supporting clubs with helpful information, guidance documents, and templates. The hub offers each section of your checklist as a module and additional templates for use. The development team are on hand to help and can support you through your application and will review upon submission before providing feedback or awarding you with our Thistle Mark which will be valid for 2 years before requiring update.

RECREATIONAL and WALKING NETBALL

Until now TMS accreditation has not been a requirement for Recreational or Walking Netball clubs, but to ensure credibility and to continue developing our sport, we are introducing a reduced TMS requirement for both Recreational and Walking Netball clubs.
It is important to note that as of the start of next season, TMS will be a mandatory requirement for all Recreational & Walking Netball clubs that are affiliated with Netball Scotland. Netball Scotland events & courses will not be accessible if your club does not hold TMS accreditation.
You will find a Rec/WN TMS Checklist attached; this includes everything that we consider essential from a Rec/WN club to be considered reputable. The requirements are reduced from those that we ask of our Senior & Junior clubs. The checklist is straightforward and shouldn’t take long to complete, so it would be great if you could have a look and complete it as soon as you can!
There are several benefits of holding TMS accreditation, including:
Once your club’s completed checklist has been reviewed and approved, TMS accreditation will be granted and will be valid for two years. Following TMS expiry, clubs simply renew their TMS by reviewing and refreshing any club documents as required.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss TMS accreditation further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
