National League Club Spotlight: Edinburgh University

Overview

Reigning National League champions Edinburgh University Netball Club are entering the 2024/25 season refreshed after a well-earned off-season. The club have retained a large majority of their squad and will be looking to once again finish top of the table during the regular season and end the campaign with another trophy. In the pre-season and under the watchful eye of head coach Trish Wilcox, the club have focused on refining their attacking creatively and one-on-one pressure in defence. Off the court, the squad have been taking part in a range of team bonding activities from potluck dinners to swims at Portobello Beach.

Team updates

As with most university teams Edinburgh University have made a number of changes to their squad as players graduate and new ones arrive to begin their studies. Across the regular BUCS and National League seasons the team will use the matches to test out players and new on-court combinations.

We’ve worked hard in pre-season to sharpen our skills, and I’m confident that our creativity, intensity, and teamwork will set us up for another successful campaign.”

Captain, Katie Joslin: “We’re really looking forward to building on last season’s success. With new players coming in and a few returning from injury, it’s about finding those connections and bringing a fresh dynamic to our game. I’m excited to lead the team, keep morale high, and stay focused on the challenge ahead, both in the National League and our new BUCS competition. It’s going to be a great season, and we’re ready to give it our all!”

First Match:

Reigning National League champions Edinburgh University begin their season in the first match of the day this weekend taking on Dunedin at 09.35 at the Pleasance in Edinburgh. Last season’s fixture was a fine showing from the side, with Edinburgh pulling off a convincing 56 – 24 win.
