COACH FOR MY SECONDARY SCHOOL

The S1/S6 resource pack is a supportive resource for Teachers in Secondary schools and provides 18 weeks of lesson plans that are easily adaptable to suit the needs of the participant.  

The resource supports in the development of fundamental movement skills linked to netball, positions, and rules of the game. Equipping the participants and teacher to enter into the Netball Scotland Scottish Schools Cup.

The Future Stars programme provides a structured pathway for development for players from Age 3 – 12 years old.  The course is designed to provide an opportunity for everyone to become part of a team and enjoy the feeling of support and co-operation that this engenders.

The Future Stars resources will give the learner coach the essential skills to those who are coaching grass roots and/or Fun 5z netball.  These resources are suitable for clubs, local authorities, colleges & universities to support staff members, teachers, volunteers and students that are currently coaching at clubs, primary school, festivals and Fun 5z Netball.

The resource packs, the individual will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals for primary school children.
  • Have knowledge on a range of drills and how to apply them.
  • Introduce netball specific skills.
  • Plan and deliver a session.
  • Confidently deliver to a group (age group 3 – 5 years/5 – 7 years/8 – 10 years and 11 – 12 years)
  • The game – Fun 5z’s & 7 v 7

Coaching pack for specific age groups can be purchased individually (£30.00 per pack) or as a package(£100.00). Packs will be sent electronically direct to the individual.

The Netball Leaders award is for S2/S6 school pupils that are supporting primary school festivals and Fun 5z.

After completing the award the individual will be able to:

  • Understand the different fundamentals delivered at the early stages.
  • Introduce skills and drills at the appropriate level for the participant
  • Adapt skills when necessary to suit participation level
  • support lead coaches

Cost: £165 per group booking (20 candidates)

AIM

The Introduction to Coaching Award is the first step on the coaching pathway.
The purpose of this course is to allow learners to develop skills they will use to assist in the delivery of planned coaching sessions under supervision. Learners will be able to describe their motivations and aspirations as a coach, develop their ability to identify the needs of all participants, and prepare safe coaching environments. Learners will support the process of planning for sports coaching sessions and reflect on their practice.

CANDIDATE

It is suitable for learners who have an active interest in netball and coaching.  Recommended age is 14 – 18-year-olds. This course is also suitable for candidates over the age of 18 starting their coaching journey.

Those with the following membership licenses qualify to apply and book on to the Introduction to Coaching Course: Level 3 | Level 4

QUALIFICATION OUTCOMES

Successful candidates will be able to assist in the delivery of planned coaching sessions under direct supervision of a qualified lead coach over the age of 18 yrs.

COMPETENCIES

The supervising coach must be over the age of 18 years and hold a lead coach qualification Lead Coach Award (Community Coach Award), UKCC level 2 or above.

DURATION

Pre-Course modules via our Brightspace platform, 2 x virtual workshops (4 hours) and 1 practical day (7 hours).

ASSESSMENTS

Assessments will take place in-person at least 2 months after the practical day. Candidates also have a choice of uploading their video assessment to our online platform Brightspace.

PRE-REQUISITES

Those with the following membership licenses qualify to apply and book on to the Introduction to Coaching Course: Level 3 | Level 4

For candidates 16+, candidates must complete the Child Wellbeing and Protection Course.

sportscotland funded cost: £130.00 – members only.  Subject to continued sportscotland funding.

Netball Scotland’s subsidy form is mandatory for members booking onto a course and must be completed at the time of booking.

Candidates must live in Scotland to apply for funding.

AIM

The Lead Coach Award is an important step on the coaching pathway for individuals who want to lead sessions within community or clubs /settings.
The purpose of this course is to allow learners to develop knowledge and skills they will use to independently plan, deliver, and review coaching sessions under *minimal supervision. Learners will develop an understanding of effective coaching practice in relation to knowing yourself, others and coaching.  Learners will build knowledge, confidence, and competence as a lead coach.
The unit is suitable for learners who have an active interest in netball and coaching.

CANDIDATE

Learners must be at least 16 years old on completion of this unit. Entry is at the discretion of Netball Scotland.  Learners should have an active interest in netball and some experience of assisting at coaching sessions. (University Students, Teachers, or Learners that hold a Level 1 coaching certificate or equivalent qualification can apply for this course). Recommended age is 18+.

Those with the following membership licenses qualify to apply and book on to the Lead Coach Award: Level 3 | Level 4

QUALIFICATION OUTCOMES

Successful candidates will be able to lead sessions within a community or club setting or similar.

COMPETENCIES

Coaches under 18 should be supervised by a responsible adult. The adult is considered to have duty of care and is responsible for all participants. It is advised that coaches 18+ have access to indirect supervision of a more qualified/experienced coach who does not require to be in attendance but can provide ongoing support with reviewing their coaching practice, planning etc.

The supervising coach must be over the age of 18 years and hold a lead coach qualification Lead Coach award(Community Coach Award), UKCC level 2 or above.

DURATION

Pre-Course modules via our Brightspace platform, 3 online workshops (7.5 hours) and 1 practical day (7 hours).

ASSESSMENT

Assessments are completed on an ongoing basis throughout the course.

PRE-REQUISITES

Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport: To complete the Lead Coach Award candidates must provide valid certificates for Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport. Course dates are available through our education calendar via the link below:
