Netball Scotland is seeking Expressions of Interest from coaches who have:

·        Demonstratable success in coaching
·        Demonstrable commitment to ongoing personal growth and reflection
·        Demonstratable evidence of living the values in a team environment
·        Demonstrable passion for individual and holistic athlete growth
·        A strong sense of own coaching philosophy and purpose for contributing to Scottish netball
·        Strong desire to be an integral part of Netball Scotland’s success

The Scottish Thistles Netball Team Programme

The Scottish Thistles Programme aims to lead the way for the Scottish netball network and community in providing an elite high-performance environment for athletes and emerging athletes which looks to inspire the netball community in Scotland.

In 2025, the Scottish Thistles will embark upon a critical 18-month preparation and development of the programme and its cohort of athletes as part of the 2026 Commonwealth Games and 2027 Netball World Cup campaigns.

Scotland’s national squad and team (Thistles and Scotland A) will be supported on and off the court to strive toward individual and team success at upcoming international series and major events.

The Scottish Thistles Programme plays a critical role in ensuring that netball is the number 1 female participation sport of choice in Scotland and will provide inspiration for the next generation of aspiring players, umpires, coaches and officials across the country.

The legacy, growth and pride of the Thistles are at the heart of the programme – with a rich history of over 200 players having worn the purple dress and representing our nation proudly.

ROLE COMMITMENTS

Applicants who are successful in gaining an interview will have the opportunity to discuss the planned programme at the time of the interview.

As a guide coaches should be available to commit to some of the following activities (dependent on the role) for which they are applying;

·        Training Camp Saturday 11 January 2025, Glasgow
·        Training Sessions Tuesday & Thursday evenings (Jan – June)
·        Training Camp 25 & 26 January 2025, Glasgow
·        Thistles’ tours, training camps and competitions (1 September 2025 – 31 January 2026) during the international netball window, these are predominantly Saturday & Sunday activities, in Scotland. This window will include a selection of Tuesday and Thursday evening sessions to develop the full Thistles squad and depth of talent.
