NATIONAL AGE GROUP AND SCOTTISH SUPERCUP SQUAD TRIALS 2023
We are quickly approaching the start of the new 2023/24 Netball Season which means the continued rollout of our new and existing National Pathway Programmes. At Netball Scotland, we are consistently looking to grow, develop and enhance our Pathway in order to ‘prepare young athletes to compete at international and domestic competition’.
Dates;
18th June 2023 – U21 and Senior SuperCup Selections (Times & venues TBC)
2nd / 3rd Sept 2023 – U17 and U19 Selections (Times & venues TBC) **please note this may be condensed to 1 day depending on numbers**
Trials are by nomination – District Coach if Scottish based this will be sent directly to Districts. For those eligibile to trial who reside outside of Scotland, nominations must be made by Club/Franchise and sent to pathwaycoach@netballscotland.com.
NATIONAL SQUADS - ELIGIBILITY
AGE RANGE:
U17 – 16 on 31st December 2023
U19 – 18 on 31st December 2023
U21 – 20 on 31st December 2023
To be eligible to play for a National Association’s national representative team in any International Event, by the Submission Date for that Event a player must satisfy at least one of the following requirements and their National Association must provide corresponding Evidence of Eligibility to the INF:
(a) be born in that country or have at least one parent or grandparent born in that Country;
(b) reside in and have a fixed address in Scotland for > 2 years (European Competition)
(c) reside in and have a fixed address in Scotland for > 4 years (Commonwealth Games)
CAMPS:
Training camps for all squads will take place on the same weekend each month with longer camps scheduled throughout the school holidays.
Athletes wishing to be selected for, and those who are successful in selection into a National Squad are required to be training and competing at the highest club / representative level weekly;
- U19 Sirens Academy
- 1st / 2nd University Club Teams that play within BUCS Tier 1A or 2A
- 1st Division / Premier League Senior Club Team
- NPL Franchise Squads
- SuperCup Competition
SUPERCUP
Following the success of last year’s Scottish Supercup, we will once again be running this competition. This year we are inviting National Squad, Senior Club and 1A University athletes to trial for this competition. The aim of the SuperCup is to offer a condensed and enhanced training and competitive opportunity for athletes, taking place throughout the month of September with weekly training and competition culminating in a Finals Day.
Each team will be a mix of Senior National Athletes, Age Group National Athletes and Club Athletes and will be allocated following selection weekend.
