2026-2027 National Pathway Squad Trials

U17 & U19 National Trials

This will take place on Saturday 15th August as follows:

U17 – Glasgow International Arena, G40 3HY from 9-1pm

U19 – Glasgow International Arena, G40 3HY from 12:30-5pm

If successful on this date, you will be invited to attend a second trial on Saturday 22nd August as follows:

U17 – Glasgow International Arena, G40 3HY from 9-1pm

U19 – Glasgow International Arena, G40 3HY from 12:30-5pm

  • Age Criteria
  • U17 – must be under 17 as of 31st December 2026 – 2010 or later birth year
  • U19 – must be under 19 as of 31st December 2026 – 2008 or later birth year
  • Current National squad athletes will automatically receive an invite to trial from Netball Scotland
  • Scotland based athletes – nominations will be completed by your district coaches, and each district will have received an email to confirm this process
  • Scotland eligible athletes living outwith Scotland – you must be nominated by your club or franchise coach to be considered for trial. Please ask them to do so via the link below.
  • Coaches, please follow Netball Scotland’s Benchmarking criteria
  • Submitting an application for the performance pathway does not guarantee you will be selected to trial. All applicants will be advised via email prior to the trial if they are required to attend.

U21 National Trials

This will take place on Sunday 16th August at the Glasgow International Arena, G40 3HY from 9-1pm.

  • U21 – must be under 21 as of 31st December 2026 – 2006 or later birth year
  • Current National squad athletes will automatically receive an invite to trial
  • All other athletes interested in trialling for Scotland and meet the eligibility criteria above, please complete the link below to be considered for trial:
  • Submitting an application for the performance pathway does not guarantee you will be selected to trial. All applicants will be advised via email prior to the trial if they are required to attend.

Please note that late trials will only be permitted in exceptional circumstances and due to the volume of trialists we cannot guarantee late trials will be granted.

INTERNATIONAL LEVEL COMPETITION

Playing netball for Scotland at International level is a huge honour and achievement.

You can play for Scotland if you have the commitment, dedication, skills, talent and consistency that are required to excel against the world’s best teams and players.

If you are ambitious and talented, you can join a select group of players who have been capped at International level.

Europe Netball Championships (Under 17, Under 19 and Under 21)

Netball Scotland work with the Home Office to approve any overseas athletes who wish to play in Scotland.  Please see our Governing Body Endorsement Requirements for full details.

NATIONAL SQUADS - ELIGIBILITY

AGE RANGE:
U17 – 16 on 31st December 2026
U19 – 18 on 31st December 2026
U21 – 20 on 31st December 2026

To be eligible to play for a National Association’s national representative team in any International Event, by the Submission Date for that Event a player must satisfy at least one of the following requirements and their National Association must provide corresponding Evidence of Eligibility to the INF:

(a) be born in that country or have at least one parent or grandparent born in that Country;
(b) reside in and have a fixed address in Scotland for > 2 years (European Competition)
(c) reside in and have a fixed address in Scotland for > 4 years (Commonwealth Games)

CAMPS:

Training camps for all squads will take place on the same weekend each month with longer camps scheduled throughout the school holidays.

Athletes wishing to be selected for, and those who are successful in selection into a National Squad are required to be training and competing at the highest club / representative level weekly;

  • 1st / 2nd University Club Teams that play within BUCS Tier 1A or 2A
  • 1st Division / Premier League Senior Club Team
  • NPL Franchise Squads
  • SuperCup Competition
