The Scottish Thistles’ Netball World Cup 2019 squad are packing their bags and hitting the road this weekend as they head to Liverpool for match play against World number 7 side, Uganda on Sunday 25th, and England (A) on Tuesday 27th November.
Claire Maxwell leads two different Scottish Thistles’ line ups into the games as Captain, with athletes juggling playing for their country with work commitments.
The 12 selected to play against Uganda will be: Emma Barrie, Rebecca Edgar, Lynsey Gallagher, Ella Gibbons, Bethan Goodwin, Emma Love, Claire Maxwell, Nicola McCleery, Hayley Mulheron and Emily Nicholl.
Our line up for the England Roses v Uganda ‘curtain raiser’ against England (A) will be: Emma Barrie, Kelly Boyle, Rebecca Edgar, Ella Gibbons, Emma Love, Claire Maxwell, Niamh McCall, Hayley Mulheron, Emily Nicholl and Fiona Fowler.
Having not had her in a Scotland dress since our farewell in the Gold Coast last spring, we are excited to have Fiona Fowler back on court as a Thistle, thanks to a fortuitous work trip to the UK with her school pupils. Joining an exciting line up of young and experienced athletes, we are looking forward to reporting back on how these training matches go.
Keep an eye on the Scottish Thistles official social channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) for behind the scenes action.
Scottish Thistles v England (A): our match will be part of England’s Vitality Roses v Uganda International Series being played at the Echo Arena, Liverpool (home of the Netball World Cup 2019) on Tuesday 27th November, starting at 4.30pm. There are tickets available from the Echo Arena website.
