An Update from #TeamNS

2nd February 2021

We were hoping this year would start quite differently, but here we are! So, we wanted to give you all an update of where we are.

Following the First Minister’s most recent announcement on Tuesday the 2nd of February 2021, the current lockdown restrictions will remain in place until at least the end of February. We want to remind members that all netball activity will remain suspended for the time being and until further notice. You can find our previous Extended Protection Level 4 – Netball Suspension Announcement, published on January 7th here.

A Quick Thank You

Before we get into our update, first off, we want to say a HUGE thank you to all our members for sticking with us through this pandemic, over 5,000 of you renewed your membership for the new season and your continued support will help us ensure our sport survives.

Secondly, to our clubs, you are, as always, incredible. Through the toughest of situations 77 of you got #NetballReady and now back in lockdown you are coming up with the most inventive ways to keep netball going and make the best of this situation.

Physical activity is so important, perhaps even more so now. Remember, if you’re missing netball you can find free challenges and Netball Fitness drills on the Netball Scotland website here.

Our Update

As a little update from our side, #TeamNS are working closely with the Scottish Government, sportscotland and partners to carve out a path back to court, we’re scenario planning and doing what we can to ensure netball is in the strongest position possible to begin our recovery.

We are just as dedicated to strengthening our clubs, working closely with Local Associations, and providing members with quality netball opportunities as we always were. Of course, how we do this has been impacted by the pandemic, but it has forced us to think differently. It’s not always been easy to navigate but we are working on it.

Our #NetsGoOutdoors campaign is also in full swing and we will continue to seek outdoor spaces for our members and clubs to train and eventually play again. If you think you can help, find more information here.

And finally, with the return of the Vitality Netball Superleague announced today we are delighted to have live netball back on our screens once again and we hope you’re all ready to #JoinTheTribe and support Sirens this season! View the announcement here.

Final Thoughts

Whilst a return to normality feels a while away, we truly believe in the power of our sport to keep people going, even in these difficult circumstances. Brighter times are ahead and there is so much to look forward to, we might just have to wait a little longer.

Thank you for remaining connected, engaged, and passionate about netball. If you need anything the team at Netball Scotland are #HereIfYouNeed. We may be working from home, but we are all here to lend a hand or an ear if you need it.

Stick with it Scotland! We’re with you all the way #TogetherWeAreNetball
