Netball Scotland praises Commonwealth Games return to Glasgow

Netball Scotland applaud the hard work done by Commonwealth Games Scotland Chair, Ian Reid, and his team to bring the Games back to Glasgow.
Just over ten years since the city last hosted the Games, CEO Ken Hay said: “We’re thrilled that the Commonwealth Games are returning to Glasgow in 2026.
“The 2014 Games were a game-changer, not just for our sport, but for the sporting landscape in Scotland.
“It gave the people of Scotland direct access to elite level sport and athletes across so many different sports and created world class venues like the Emirates Arena which we now call home.
“The work by Ian and his team has been fantastic and we’re excited to see what the future holds and as the detailed plans for the Games firm up over the coming weeks and months.”
Scottish Thistles’ new Head Coach, Kath Tetley, added: “The atmosphere in Glasgow and with the athletes has been electric since the news came out. The Commonwealth Games are an incredible multi-sport event, and they always supercharge the growth of the sports on show.
“I’ve been fortunate to be part of a Commonwealth Games delivery in the UK and I’m looking forward to hopefully playing a supporting role in the delivery of the 2026 Games, right here at home in Glasgow. Our sport genuinely loves the Commonwealth Games experience – on and off the court.”
