Home Crowd, Home Pride: Netball to Light Up the Hydro at Glasgow 2026

With Glasgow 2026 releasing the venues and schedules for next year’s Commonwealth Games (hosted in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August 2026), the Netball competition will be taking centre stage at The Hydro. Over 10,000 spectators will be able to buy tickets for each session in what promises to be one of the showcase events of the entire games.
Netball Scotland CEO Ken Hay is delighted that Netball will be front and centre when competition gets underway on July 25:
“Hosting netball at the Hydro for the Commonwealth Games is a truly historic moment for our sport and for Scotland. To see our athletes compete on such an iconic stage, in front of a passionate home crowd, fills us with immense pride and excitement. This is a celebration of how far netball has come – and a glimpse of the incredible future ahead.”
Thistles Coach Kath Tetley is equally thrilled with today’s announcement:
“This is a history-making moment for netballers in Scotland. This is the first ever opportunity for the Scottish Thistles to play on the floorboards at the Hydro. We will play in front of 10,000+ netball fans, in our home Games – its massive – and we simply can’t wait to play there all week surrounded by our Thistles fans, friends and family.”
“In 2014, Scotland played all of their matches at the SEC before the Finals moved to the Hydro. Some of our athletes were in the stands watching the top 4 nations battle it out for the medals – but this time we have the chance to be on the court and showcasing our game every day, in front of huge crowds and hopefully inspiring the next generation of netballers to be what they can see on court.”
The Netball will begin on Saturday July 25 and run through until Sunday August 2 where one of the last gold medals of the games will be awarded.

Today’s announcement is especially timely, as fans have less than 48 hours left to register at Glasgow2026.com for exclusive access to the ticket pre-sale starting 21 October – deadline for registrations is 23:59 on Thursday 16 October. With general ticket sales opening on 30 October, knowing the schedule now means supporters can secure seats for their favourite sports and key medal events. The specific draw for Netball is still to be released. It will feature the Top 12 ranked teams in the world and feature five pool matches per team initially before the medal and classification rounds begin on July 31.
