Johnston Carmichael Junior Club Development Fund open for applications from 1 May

30th April 2026

Junior netball clubs throughout Scotland are able to apply for up to £500 through the Johnston Carmichael Junior Club Development Fund, which opens again from 1 May.

Back for a fourth year, the Fund is continuing to make a meaningful impact for affiliated clubs, offering targeted support to help junior netball grow and thrive.

Made possible through Netball Scotland’s partnership with Johnston Carmichael, a leading independent UK accountancy and business advisory firm, , the fund supports junior clubs to increase participation, improve accessibility, arrange training or attend competitions.

Netball Scotland Director of Development Carol Harvey sees the value the fund provides: “Our junior clubs are at the heart of netball in Scotland, and this fund is about giving them practical support where it can make a real difference. It is brilliant to see the positive impact already being felt in communities across the country, and we are very grateful to Johnston Carmichael for helping make that possible.”

Supporting clubs where it matters most

The Johnston Carmichael Junior Club Development Fund can be used to support a wide range of needs, including coaching and volunteer development, access to competitions, community outreach, travel expenses, netball equipment and facility hire.

The aim is simple: to provide practical support where it can make the biggest difference.

Johnston Carmichael’s Partner and Head of CSR, Jenn Stewart said “This fund is about backing the incredible work happening at grassroots level and ensuring clubs have meaningful and practical support where it’s needed most. It’s inspiring to see the impact the fund has already had, and we’re proud to play a part in helping junior netball thrive across Scotland.”

Real impact in communities across Scotland

For clubs already supported through the fund in 2025, the impact has been both immediate and meaningful.

At Angus Netball, the funding has helped the club continue creating a positive and welcoming environment for its members and wider community.

“This contribution has made a meaningful difference to our club helping us continue to grow and deliver positive netball experiences within the Angus community.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support from Johnston & Carmichael. Their contribution has strengthened our club both practically and socially, ensuring we can continue offering a welcoming, well-resourced environment for netball in Angus.”

At Westside Netball Club, the support has helped volunteers build confidence and gain the qualifications needed to continue delivering sessions for players.

“Receiving the funding has been a great success for the club as it has allowed the volunteers who coach the players to gain the relevant qualifications to be able to coach with confidence and the appropriate knowledge.

“The umpiring courses have been great for all the coaches in the club to complete to ensure that everyone has the most basic umpiring knowledge.”

Building stronger clubs for the future

From workforce development to easing travel pressures and supporting safe, structured club sessions, the Fund is helping clubs respond to real challenges in a way that creates lasting benefit and supports the growth of netball.

How to apply

The Johnston Carmichael Junior Club Development Fund is open to Netball Scotland-affiliated junior clubs, or clubs delivering junior activity, that can clearly demonstrate project need and show how funding will make a difference.

Clubs must be affiliated to Netball Scotland, be working towards or have completed the Thistle Mark Standard, provide activity for junior players, and clearly evidence the need for support. Projects must also be delivered within six months of receiving funding, with clubs asked to report on the impact made.
