National Finals Day 2018

National Finals Day is Netball Scotland’s pinnacle club event of the season and what an excellent day of netball it was.  Teams certainly kept the crowd on the edge of their seats with three out of the five matches ending within two goals. This year, East clubs dominated this event with clubs from the Edinburgh and Borders areas winning four of the five finals.

Results

This year, we were joined by Lesley Macdonald, Netball Scotland’s Pathways Development Manager and Scotland U21’s Head Coach, and Kim Wharton, Scotland U17’s Head Coach to select our Player of the Match.  Each game had some outstanding players which made it difficult for the panel to choose.  A huge ‘congratulations‘ to the following players who were selected as our National Finals Day 2018 Player of the Match.

On Saturday, Netball Scotland relaunched our Respect Policy encouraging all of our members, fans, volunteers, family and friends to respect each other, respect yourselves and respect our sport.  From the performance of teams both on and off the court on Saturday it was great to see some clear examples of exemplary sportsmanship and respect.

Regardless of the outcome of Saturday, we say CONGRATULATIONS to all teams who were involved in the event, each and every one of you should be proud of all your efforts over the course of this year’s competition season.   Get on over to our Facebook page to check out our official photography from the day, shout out to Keith McLeod!

Special thanks must go to all the coaches, team managers, committee members, parents and players for their support and help in again running another successful Scottish Cup and Scottish Youth Cup, and of course to the volunteers and Netball Scotland staff who helped deliver an exceptional #NFD18 to close out our season.  I look forward to welcoming you back next year.
