Netball Scotland Celebrates Lucy Faulkner’s Appointment to World Netball’s Strategic Development Fund Panel

15th May 2024

Netball Scotland is thrilled to announce that Lucy Faulkner, our esteemed Chair, has been appointed to the Strategic Development Fund (SDF) Panel by World Netball. This prestigious role places her among an elite group tasked with advancing the global strategy of netball development. The SDF, established as part of World Netball’s “Grow” initiative, aims to use legacy funding secured ahead of the Netball World Cup 2027 to seed investment in strategic programs that align with both global and regional federation strategies.

The core mission of the SDF is to foster substantial and sustainable growth in netball from grassroots to elite levels, integrating strategic development with equality, diversity, and inclusion, and ensuring effective governance and safeguarding within the sport. Lucy Faulkner’s role on this international panel underscores her deep commitment to the sport and highlights her extensive background in sports development and EDI initiatives.

As a panel member, Lucy will help review funding applications from World Netball members, with the initial funding applications having closed earlier this month. She shared her enthusiasm about her new role, stating, “I am excited about being on the Panel as it is an amazing opportunity for World Netball to support development projects as well as then be able to showcase the work of the projects. I feel I have a lot to offer from my sports development and EDI background and, just as importantly, feel it would be a great learning opportunity for me and for Netball Scotland to learn more about the Strategic Development Fund.”

Lucy’s appointment is not only a testament to her own leadership and expertise but also a significant acknowledgment of Netball Scotland’s influence and standing within the global netball community. We are confident that her contribution will greatly enhance the development of netball worldwide, bringing invaluable insights and direction to the SDF’s critical mission.
