Proudly Scottish: Thistles unveil playing dress for Glasgow 2026
14th July 2026
Netball Scotland has unveiled the playing dress to be worn by the Scottish Thistles when they represent Team Scotland at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Created in partnership with BE Uniforms, the new dress features a bold, contemporary design centred around a deconstructed Saltire. The fragmented lines and angular shapes offer a modern interpretation of Scotland’s national flag, creating a distinctive look for the team as they prepare to compete on home soil.
The design reflects the identity of the Scottish Thistles: proud of their heritage, prepared to challenge expectations and ready to represent Scotland on one of the biggest stages in international netball.
The dress will be worn by the selected squad throughout the competition, where the Thistles will take on some of the world’s leading netball nations in front of a home crowd. The design has been developed with the athletes at the heart of the process, bringing together a strong Scottish visual identity with the practical requirements of international netball.

Its deconstructed Saltire gives the traditional symbol a fresh and dynamic appearance, reflecting the movement, speed and intensity of the sport. The design ensures the Thistles will carry a clear representation of Scotland with them every time they take to the court.
Iona Christian, 33 Test caps said:
“I absolutely love our Commonwealth Games dresses! The team look great in them. I particularly love the blue dress with the saltire details and the purple dress with the pop of pink is really striking. We can’t wait to wear it in front of a home crowd in the Hydro!”
Emily Nicholl, 61 test caps added:
“Getting to wear a Commonwealth games dress is a honour that very few Thistles have had the privilege of experiencing. It’s so special to be part of something bigger, representing not just the Thistles but all of Team Scotland. We’re a very proud nation and I love how the dress incorporates the Saltire. I cannot wait to run out at the Hydro wearing it!”
BE Uniforms worked closely with Netball Scotland throughout the development and production of the dress, helping to translate the creative concept into the final playing kit.
Rennie Keith of BE Uniforms, said:
“As a proud Scotsman, this project was about far more than creating a high-performance dress. It was about designing a symbol of national pride that every player can wear with confidence, knowing it represents the hopes of a nation and the legacy of those who have worn the thistle before them. At BE Teamwear, we are passionate about championing women and girls in sport, and we hope this dress inspires the next generation to believe that they too can wear Scotland’s colours one day. Seeing our design worn by these incredible athletes at a home Commonwealth Games will be one of the proudest moments in our company’s history. To play a small part in helping these athletes represent Scotland on the biggest stage is something that means a great deal to me.”

The playing dress forms an important part of the Thistles’ Glasgow 2026 identity and marks another milestone as the countdown to the Games continues. The team will have both a predominantly blue dress and an alternate purple and pink dress for the duration of the Commonwealth Games matches.
The new dress will make its Commonwealth Games debut in front of a passionate home support at the Hydro, the home of the netball competition throughout the Games. With Scotland set to play the opening match against New Zealand on Saturday 25 July, followed by a vital game against Wales on Sunday 26 July, supporters can browse the remaining seats and make it a huge weekend for the home team.
