SCOTTISH CUP KICKS OFF

The Scottish Cup is a nationwide club level competition that allows all adult teams based in Scotland to compete against one another in a bid to be crowned the Scottish Cup Champions. Those who are unsuccessful in their bid at Scottish Cup are then entered into the Evelyn Beattie Quaich, allowing them to continue to play netball across the country against teams they would never come to face within their local leagues.
We asked clubs around Scotland what competing in the Scottish Cup means to their club.
Caledonian Netball Club said;
“Caledonian Netball Club have introduced a focus of high performance this year and hope to see this reflect through our Scottish Cup Teams.
The competition allows our top teams the opportunity to implement their training programmes against a range of opponents outside of their district. This experience will help them to develop, improve and gain a wider sense of the fantastic competition out there.
The Scottish Cup is also a great bonding experience for our teams. The time spent together travelling, training and competing, really unifies the girls and solidifies their friendships.”
We also spoke to 2022 Evelyn Beattie Quaich winners, Scotstoun Netball Club;
“Taking part in the Scottish Cup is one of the highlights of our season. Being able to face a variety of teams and styles of play out with the GNA is a great opportunity.
Off the back of winning the Quaich cup last year, we’re really excited to see how we can progress. We have a lot of new faces this who can strengthen our squad again this season so we’re looking forward to raising that bar we set last season.”
