Netball Scotland has today announced they will form part of the Team Scotland squad heading to Trinbago this summer to take part in the Commonwealth Youth Games.

The Youth Games, taking place in the twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago from 4-11 August will host a FAST5s Netball. It will be the first time ever FAST5 Netball is included on the Youth Games programme and competition for the inaugural title promises to be high, with hosts Trinidad and Tobago, Australia, England, South Africa, Botswana, Canada, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Scotland all featuring. Taking place at the Shaw Park Cultural Complex from 8-10 August, FAST5 Netball’s shorter, faster format is set to captivate fans.

Netball Scotland CEO, Claire Nelson says;

“We are really excited to be competing for Team Scotland in this summer’s Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago. It is a huge honour to be part of the first time the Fast 5 format is being introduced into the CWYG programme and we relish the opportunity to compete against some of the best netballing nations in the world at this prestigious competition. After a successful recent Europe Netball U17 campaign, and with the Netball World Youth Championships taking place in 2025, this event offers us an important opportunity to further challenge and develop our pathway players and coaches as we work towards closing the gap and building our successes on the international stage.”

CGF President, Dame Louise Martin, commented:

“We are particularly excited to announce the teams playing in the first ever FAST5 Netball competition. The dynamic and innovative format promises to be one of the highlights of the Games.”

The FAST5 format, features multiple point shots, double point power plays, five players-a-side and shortened quarters creating an exciting spectator experience with the potential for unpredictable results.
