Netball Scotland Support Children’s Mental Health Week

3rd February 2021

Netball Scotland are proud to be #PlayingOurPart in supporting Children’s Mental Health Week 2021.

Created by children’s mental health charity Place2Be, this week asks participants to ‘Express Yourself‘ to highlight the importance of mental wellbeing among children and young people.

Introducing the Schools Skills Challenge

In support of this important initiative, we are introducing our brand-new free schools resource the Schools Skills Challenge to help support children through sport.

There’s plenty of evidence that taking part in physical activity can have a positive impact on mental wellbeing, from getting a better night’s sleep, to managing stress, anxiety and boosting your mood. (Source SAMH)

With the School Skills Challenge teachers will be able to access a range of creative resources and exciting challenges to keep children active. The challenges are designed for all children from P3 to P7, however they are also easily adaptable to younger age groups if required. Most importantly, they take into account the Covid-19 restrictions currently in place across the country.

The Schools Skills Challenge is accessible at any time throughout the year and offers children the opportunity to develop new skills, achieve goals and improve their fitness and coordination all whilst gaining a fun introduction to the sport of netball.

#GetInvolved

It’s not about how skilled they are, it’s about keeping active, having fun and achieving their own goals. Find out more about the Schools Skills Challenge and Netball Scotlands Digital Programmes here!
