RecNet Festival 2025: A Celebration of Growth, Community, and Netball for All
4th August 2025

Despite rainy skies, the energy and excitement were high at the 2025 Summer RecNet Festival, hosted at the newly re-laid Peffermill outdoor pitches, a brilliant venue by Edinburgh University. The event brought together Level 2 Members and recreational clubs from across Scotland, creating a vibrant celebration of community netball that highlighted both the game’s inclusivity and its growing reach.
A Festival Full of Firsts and Familiar Faces
Seven women’s teams took to the court, featuring a mix of fresh new faces, including new players from Girl Grads, a community built around supporting young women and professionals, and familiar teams representing regions from the Borders to Fife. Whether seasoned RecNet regulars or first-time players, everyone came with one goal: to celebrate the joy of netball in a fun, friendly, and competitive setting.
Growing the Game: Men’s Netball on the Rise
One of the standout stories of the day was the continuing rise of men’s netball. This year, 24% of players in the mixed event were men, a clear sign of the growing appetite for the sport among men. With the momentum building, we’re thrilled to look ahead to the introduction of a Mixed Scottish Cup category, offering even more opportunities for inclusive and competitive play.
Powered by Partnerships
